Video Game Company in Downtown Vancouver

Vancouver, BC • 20,000 square feet

This company’s latest expansion project presented an opportunity to build a standalone studio that was smaller than HQ1, with its own unique design that maintained a connection to their strong culture.

The Project

When the team outgrew their HQ at Alberni and Thurlow, they wanted to find expansion space that was within 2 – 3 blocks in a building with comparable amenities to their current space. The ideal building would be professional, but not corporate; it would be accessible and have amenities for their staff. And the landlord would have to be willing to accommodate dogs in the office.

The Space

The space in HQ2 was approximately 20,000 square feet over 2 floors, with an efficient, open layout. The unique architecture of the building with coffered ceilings, in-set windows and unique concrete and rock features, provided the opportunity to design a unique space. Using the concrete as the inspiration for a city-space, the architectural team at Perkins Will created a series of pathways through out the office, to mirror the fabric of the streetscape below.
