Engine Digital at 34 West 8th Avenue
Vancouver, BC • 10,000 square feet
From our friends at Turner Construction Company an inside look into Engine Digital’s HQ. After several years of extreme growth Engine Digital was looking to expand their headquarters into a new space. Turner Construction embarked on a design-build journey with the client and the design team to completely upgrade three floors of an existing wood frame building in Mount Pleasant. The result was a bright loft-like aesthetic that echoed the lofty charm of the building.

Construction
The design and construction incorporated existing surfaces and elements such as large structural wood beams, high ceilings and concrete floors. The space plan included open workspaces, open collaboration touch down areas, casual lounge spaces, meeting and workshop rooms, hydration and coffee stations and a staff lunchroom.
Some key design features were a new glass modular wall system and a custom reception desk. Practical finishes were used throughout the space to maintain clean lines and the loft-like aesthetic. This space also includes a film studio, two small editing suites that flex as offices, and audio-visual systems. Acoustics were very important to the client and we were able to support them by using custom 3form panels to meet the specific working conditions of their various teams. The new loft-like space plan invited an open environment for collaboration and natural interaction while simultaneously supporting their focused workspace requirements.
