Hootsuite’s Vancouver HQ at 111 East 5th Avenue

From Amber Kingsnorth of Māk Interiors. Hootsuite is a social media management platform that was founded in Vancouver by Ryan Holmes in 2008. They have offices in 14 cities around the globe and employ over 1,000 people.
During the pandemic, Hootsuite reached out to Māk Interiors to reimagine their Vancouver HQ at 111 East 5th Avenue, partnering with Fusion Projects to execute this unique construction project.
Design Approach
Throughout the space Māk Interiors layered soft seating for open break-out areas, lounges, and quiet work zones with bursts of colour as well as living walls and plants to purify the air and reinforce a connection to nature. To promote natural light in areas where windows were not accessible, they added intelligent skylight panels that mimic the suns movement. A wellness room was also added to the office program, functioning as a mother’s room, prayer space and isolation area for quiet moments.
Overall Māk kept the architectural elements neutral, layering colour and texture to create a supportive space that provides moments of inspiration, wonder, rest, and restoration.
