Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc. confirms that they will be taking ~589,000 square feet of new office space in downtown Austin, Texas. This accounts for the entire commercial component of a mixed use 66-storey tower. Once complete, the tower known as Sixth and Guadalupe will be the tallest tower in the City.
Meta currently has offices in Austin with 2000 employees and are looking to hire another 400 people.
We first came to Austin over 10 years ago with just seven employees; now over 2,000 of us are proud to call Austin home. We’re committed to Austin and look forward to growing here together.

Austin continues to be a hot spot for Tech with Elon Musk’s Tesla Inc. relocating their head office from Palo Alto, California to Austin and Oracle transferring their HQ from Silicon Valley in 2020.

The office deal follows Meta’s announcement that the company’s office reopening would be delayed to March 2022. According to Wall Street Journal (WSJ), they will also be requiring employees to have a COVID 19 booster to return. WSJ further states that not all Meta employees will be required to be in office by March 28th but rather that a deferral is being offered by three to five months. As another option, Meta will allow employees an opportunity to request remote work full time.
The Gensler designed Austin project is currently under construction by JE Dunn with completion anticipated in 2023.
